Homemade Egg and Olive Oil Face and Hair Mask

Chanced upon an awesome discovery, well nearly, I discovered (did not invent) a pack with egg that can be used as a face pack as well as a hair mask.  This pack works effectively both ways.  The only downside is the stink that the egg raises.  Well, we can do anything to see the pores on our face shrink and to get lustrous hair, wouldn’t we?  There are only three ingredients in this pack, but all three of them work amazingly on the skin as well as hair.  Coming to the benefits of ingredients- eggs are a rich source of protein, especially egg whites.  Egg white improve skin’s elasticity and tightens pores, drawing out oils from the skin, adding glow.  Lemon is a rich source of vitamin C and acts against bacteria. Also, helps in getting rid of tan.  Lemon when applied to hair roots helps in getting rid of dandruff.  Pure olive oil is a super oil that benefits both skin and hair.  Olive oil is full of anti-oxidants, contains Vitamin A and E, and prevents free radical damage.  Olive oil conditions hair, adds shine, strengthens hair, and prevents damage, also prevents hair loss.

Let’s check out the recipe

Ingredients Required:

1.  Egg White from 1 egg (I have used only one to use it as a face mask.  If you are making it for hair, you would have to use 3 eggs).

2.  One tablespoon pure olive oil (not the one for cooking purpose).

3.  Juice of half a lemon.

You can add one tablespoon of honey to this mixture when you are making a face pack, but some people are skeptical about applying honey to hair, so you can skip or add according to your choice.

Method:

Separate the egg white from the yolk and whip it up a bit.

Add in one tablespoon of olive oil and whip again so that the oil mixes well into the egg white.

Squeeze in a few drops from half a lemon and whip again.  That’s it, the face mask/hair pack is ready.

If you are using this as a face pack, apply it on clean and dry face with a face pack brush.  Keep on for 15 minutes and wash off.  You will notice supple and soft skin with reduced size of facial pores.  I have oily skin, but I did not have any break outs or irritation either due to the egg or the olive oil.

If you are using this as a hair mask, massage it into clean scalp and hair with fingertips, keep on for 1 hour, and wash off.  Do this every week to see the difference in your hair.

I am 26 and going to get married this November, and I am assembling my makeup kit. I have read many suggestions for makeup of Indian brides on IMBB( Thanks Rati and contributors) here, here, here.  I would like to know any addition or change in recommendations as beauty market is getting hoarded with new brands and products every month.  I have fair skin tone, with dark circles and normal to dry skin (only in winters). I also don’t get any pimples or breakouts easily.

Also, I have started following some of the beauty suggestions in this post here and I am loving the results and thank you very much all contributors for these posts.

As November is far away ( I feel very happy when say that), I am open to brands available in India or that can be purchased online from abroad.

ELF HD Blush – Encore Review

I am Nivanya, a “run of the mill” 20 year old.  Adore debating on any topic and Ian Somerhalder while I despise having to speak in Hindi and studying  About 6 months back, I got bitten by the blog bug.  IMBB was the first Indian makeup blog that I followed, and I was hooked from the word go!  Here’s my first article and I hope that I can write many more. So, enough dilly-dallying and let’s get down to business!

My brother is doing his PhD from an American university and when he told me that he’s coming back to India after 3 years, there was no way in hell that I was going to miss out on ordering from my current obsession, ELF Cosmetics.  I diligently researched the different cult favorites from the brand. The first product that immediately struck my fancy was the ELF Studio HD Blush. It has been compared with MUFE liquid blushes and is amazingly priced.

The shade I purchased was Encore. It is a sort of warm toned fuchsia pink, a very unique color.

Price:

$3 (but I got it through a coupon for $1.50. Yay!)

Product Description:

Naturally sculpts and highlights for a soft-focus effect that is great for everyday use. The Vitamin E enriched formula conditions and hydrates the skin for a healthy glow. Velvety soft, lightweight and highly pigmented color creates a long-lasting result for all day wear.

Ingredients:

Isododecane, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetearyl Methicone, Dimethicone, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Nylon-12, Barium Sulfate, Mica, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate (Ve), Propylparaben. The blush comes in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. It sits pretty and is extremely functional. At $3 one can’t really expect a lot of jazz and drama

My Take on ELF HD Blush – Encore:

Frankly, the color is even more gorgeous in person than it is in the photos I have taken. I am a ghastly photographer, sorry! :’(

It is a beautiful color for dusky skin tones like mine, but it can be sheered out further to suit porcelain beauties.  Its consistency lives up to the claims of being “velvety.” It has a primer like quality that just glides on your skin like a dream.  Due to my combination skin, a lot of products make me breakout like crazy, but I have been using this blush for nearly a fortnight and I can thankfully say that I have not gotten a single zit due to it.

The product is insanely pigmented, maybe a tad too much. (Don’t kill me Makeup Gods! I know that I should count my blessing, but still!)

My tip to not look like a clown would be to take a small pinhead sized drop on the back of your hand and use a flat top kabuki (the only face brush I own) to blend it on your cheekbones (if you use this on the apples of your cheeks, it will look garish, you have my word) till you get the opaqueness you desire.

It lasts throughout the day, for about 6-7 hours. I haven’t tested it for longer but since there isn’t more than a marginal amount of fading by the end of the day (I sometimes rub my cheeks in frustration) it should certainly last much longer.

Pros of ELF HD Blush – Encore:

• It’s price! It retails at $3 and is comparable to MUFE liquid blushes.
• It’s shade collection, between the 5 shades available, most people can find their dramatic and casual blush color.
• It’s pump dispenser that works like a charm. Not only is it hygienic, it also leads to minimal product wastage.
• It’s immensely versatile. You can use it as a lip tint or lip color too.
• It’s like the Amaron battery ad – Lasts long! Very very long! :p
• Can suit all skin tones, depending on the intensity.
• Doesn’t feel heavy or gritty on the face. Also, doesn’t lead to breakouts.
• ELF Cosmetics are not tested on animals.
• A little product goes a long way!

Cons of ELF HD Blush – Encore:

• It is insanely pigmented and can be garish if not blended out properly.
• It stains like no one’s business! I literally had to rub my hand raw, to wash out the swatches.
• Application requires time and patience. Hence, this is not a blush for the busy bees.
• It sets quickly, as a lip tint, so even application requires patience and a quick hand.
• Contains parabens.
• Not available in India and even in the US of A, it is only available online and in one ELF Studio store in NYC.
• Contains microshimmer, may be a pro for some.

Would I Repurchase ELF HD Blush – Encore?

Another color? Defintely! Because this blush is going to outlive me. :p

Would I Recommend ELF HD Blush – Encore to friends?

Wholeheartedly! This blush is worth the price.

FX Moroccan Moisture Miracle Argan Oil Review

It’s a dream, a goal for every Indian girl to own shiny, silky and long hair. This dream is fed by many shampoos, serums and other “magic” hair product commercials. Now, what this dreamy girl doesn’t realize is that these advertising people are very talented and possess the skill of animation and even if she does realize this, somewhere, some part of her brain and her heart will desperately want that product and hence that look.  I was one those dreamy girls who raved about having silky, shiny, golden locks. There was a time I bought any and every hair product to attain my goal, but then came a day when, while surfing on the internet, this 18-year-old girl opened up a link named Indian Makeup and Beauty (IMBB).  That was the day of enlightenment.  Since then, this girl has never bought any makeup product without reading reviews on IMBB.

Reading and researching through various IMBB pages, I encountered various hair serums. The last fantabulous hair serum that I used was Matrix Biolage.  It has the most hypnotic fragrance and how it transformed my hair was really wonderful. Anyhow, as they say “all good things come to an end,” my serum also came to an end. Now, this time I wanted to try something new. I read a lot about argan oil and decided to get it for myself. Browsing through the makeup aisle of Dorabjee’s, Pune, I stumbled upon this yellow colored bottle that read Moroccan Moisture – Argan oil.  As soon as I saw the words “argan oil,” I grabbed hold of the product and rushed to the cash counter, bought the product somewhere around April, have been using it ever since then and I guess now is the appropriate time to harvest the result.

Price:

Rs. 475 for 118 ml.

Product Description:

A tempting blend of pure cold pressed argan oil extract moisturizes and strengthens your hair while weightless silicones defrizz and add shine. Instantly smoothens and polishes, making hair soft, silky and shiny.

Packaging:

This product comes in a transparent bottle with a dome-shaped dispenser. The dispenser is like those dispensers that come with your Vim liquid bottles.  Squeezing the bottle dispenses just the right amount of product.

Texture and Fragrance:

The color of the serum is warm golden yellow. The serum is viscous unlike those super runny Matrix serums.  You have to work it in your palm and between fingers. It spreads wonderfully on wet hair and dry hair equally. About the fragrance, it’s somewhere between wood and honey, with slight notes of musk. The fragrance can be categorized more as “unisex” than as “feminine.” The fragrance lingers for a while and then as the hair dries up, the fragrance also disappears eventually.

My Experience with FX Moroccan Moisture Miracle Argan Oil:

This product is available in two forms i.e., Serum and Spray. For no reason, I selected to buy the serum. Next day, washed my hair and used this serum over towel-dried damp hair. As soon as I applied this onto my hair, I was greeted with a burst of its peculiar fragrance. It’s really viscous so one has to work it in between the palms and then apply onto the hair strands. After application, detangling was a piece of cake.  I didn’t style my hair that day and my hair, which is naturally wavy, actually turned straight.  Now, one has to be cautious about the quantity used. Since this has actual argan oil and hence using too much might make hair oily and limp, a coin-sized amount is enough for medium length hair.

The product adds shine and makes hair manageable. I style my hair a lot. I use straighteners and blow dryers. You can imagine the plight of my hair. Earlier I suffered a lot of hair breakage and split ends. Yes, breakage has reduced significantly, but I can’t comment on the split ends because I had a haircut around a month ago. The texture of my hair has improved significantly.  On the whole, this product is a great buy.

Pros of FX Moroccan Moisture Miracle Argan Oil:

• Contains argan oil.
• Detangles efficiently.
• Since detangling is easy, there is minimum breakage.
• Makes hair silky, shiny and manageable.
• A little goes a long way.

Cons of FX Moroccan Moisture Miracle Argan Oil:

• Limited availability.
• Contains silicones.
• Price might be an issue for some.

I have a question about primers. Nowadays there’s so much fuss about primers for eyes, lips, face, etc etc that I thought of giving it a try. It will be my first primer, so I don’t want to spend too much on it and want it to be within INR 700. I bought the Corioliss C2 Platinum Zebra Straightener online for Rs. 6175/- last July, and I am satisfied with my purchase. The product gives very good results, frizz-free smooth and straightened hair.  Its light weight, sleek, works easily, heats up fast and has adjustable digital temperature settings with a 360-degree long swivel cord.  I have used a Remington straightening iron previously and find this one far easier to use and the one that gives better results.  The design of the C2 is slimmer than most straightening irons which means you can go nearer the roots of your hair getting better results.

For delicate, fine or coloured hair, one can use the lower heat settings and for thicker hair, use the higher heat settings. To use, just place a section of hair between the plates, (after switching on and allowing the iron to heat up for 30 seconds) close to the roots, hold the hair firmly between the plates and slide the iron down the length of the hair from root to tip. It slides effortlessly without any snags.

I am not including pictures of my hair before and after using this straightener as I have recently had my hair rebonded and therefore do not need to use it now, though I may use it if I have to attend a function and want perfectly straight hair.

I would give it a rating of 4.5, point 5 less for its price though not really expensive, it’s the titanium plates which makes it pricey I guess.

Hi Friends,

I am Deepa and I have been a constant follower of IMBB for almost a year now.  Before IMBB, I never really cared what skin care or cosmetic products I use, never really cared what they contained, but ever since I came across IMBB, I am a lot more wiser in selecting and using my skin care and cosmetics.

November this year, I have a few marriages to attend, well the important part is that my family is taking me there for some special purpose (well they are searching a groom for me *shy*).. and honestly i really want to look good ;p… and thus I need some expert advice.

Before jumping to the questions, I would like to tell you all about my skin type:

Age: 22 years.

Skin tone: Fair to medium (i tan very easily), uneven skin tone.. because of acne marks :(

Skin Type: oily/combination and acne prone skin (especially on my forehead and chin).

Living Condition: Humid and air-conditioned.. well I am basically from Mumbai, so people from Mumbai would definitely understand.
Main concern: haven even n radiant looking skin *wish**wish*

Now the questions:
1. My derma has suggested me to take some derma peels, but m really really confused, will they really help and are the results long lasting??

2. Please advice me some products and/or some ways to get rid of acne and acne marks.. face washes, creams, masks etc anything.
3. I have been reading a lot about serums now-a-days and really want to try one, so please advice me some nice serum according to my skin type.
4. I have been using my TNC night cream for over 6 months now i guess it has stopped working for me, so I would like to change it and well if I start using serum do, I really need a night cream.
5. A foundation with good natural coverage.
6. Toner for my skin type and is toning really very important.

P.S.:  Budget is not really a problem if a product really is very good.

So, yeah, a long list of questions, but advice is much needed.  Thank you all in advance

Till now, I have just been just addicted to reading all the posts and discussions that follows, but now, I am sure I will be hooked to writing reviews as well Also, I want to congratulate IMBB guys for doing such a fantastic job! Now, let’s start with the review, shall we?

Today, I am reviewing Kryolan Professional Lipstick LC 131. I have tried many products from Kryolan and so far I have liked them all, so when I picked up this little coral lipstick, I was really excited!

Product Description:

Lipstick with a long-proven formulation, including Vitamin E to stimulate the skin’s repair mechanism. Lipstick Classic produces a matte impression and is known for its good durability. ECARF certified.

Price:

250 INR for 4 gm.

Ingredients:

It’s a long list of ingredients, but they have mentioned every single ingredient and that is quite impressive. Don’t we all frown when just the key ingredients are mentioned?

Packaging:

It comes in a silver case with Kryolan hologram on it. Nothing fancy, but a very sturdy packaging. Quite travel friendly as well.

Now, this is one packaging feature which you will hate And love! Confused?? Let me explain… See this pic?

Here the shade is Lipstick Classic 131.  Yes, the shades are numbered, and it’s difficult to find a particular shade from a stack of Kryolan lipsticks especially when you are in a hurry! : dislike:  Now the good part; the expiry date is mentioned on the product , so even a lazy bum like me who doesn’t clear her vanity box every now and then , won’t end up using an expired product!

How I Came Across Kryolan:

I had been noticing this brand in the vanity case of a friend of mine who is a makeup artist. She introduced me to this brand which is used worldwide for makeup of actors in films and television. I have been a Kryolan fan since then!

Here are the swatches in different lights; first one is the day light and second one I took in the late evening.

My Experience with Kryolan Professional Lipstick – Classic 131:

I have a very mixed reaction towards this lipstick.  On one hand, while I love love love the shade, its texture is not as lovely as other Kryolan lipsticks I have used. It’s creamy in its application but powder matte on the lips. Besides, you have a cup of coffee and….. poof! it is almost gone. : grrr x-(

It is a good lipstick for its price, but better options are available in the same classic range. Because of all the awesome Kryolan products I have tried, my expectations were too high with this one, but like always, this Kryolan product is also ECARF certified and is safe for people with allergies like me and didn’t break me out like some of the well-known brands I have used! (Double Thumbs up!!!)

Pros of Kryolan Professional Lipstick – Classic 131:

• Affordable.
• Wide range of shades.
• Pigmentation is super awesome!
• Creamy and glides very smoothly.
• Doesn’t settle in the fine lines on fading (if your lips are well hydrated, that is )
• Doesn’t bleed at all!
• Staying power is decent without meals.
• Expiry date is mentioned right on the product.
• Its ECARF certified, that means it’s safe for sensitive skin beauties!

Cons of Kryolan Professional Lipstick – Classic 131:

• It fades away unevenly and is quite transferable.
• Looks a little chalky if applied without a lip gloss.
• It smells weird! Though the smell goes away, it’s a minus!
• Availability is an issue.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5 (-1.5 for non availability and being transferable).

My Verdict:

Out of the range of Kryolan, this one is not a superstar :( Though I am a huge fan of Kryolan lipsticks, I didn’t like it much, except for the shade. It’s very pretty neon coral and to me looks very similar to MAC Vegas Volt.  For coral lovers, this might be a good addition to your coral collection!

Will I Repurchase Kryolan Professional Lipstick – Classic 131?

This shade? No! But I will definitely try other range of lipsticks as Kryolan has never been a bummer for me!

Clarins Cleansing Milk with Gentian Review

I always thought cleansing milks were not for oily skin, but Clarins Cleansing Milk with Gentian changed that notion of mine.  Clarins is on par with Clinique as far as skin care products are concerned, even a notch above I feel. Clarins products have subtle fragrance which feels refreshing.  People who have not had good luck with Clinique, should try Clarins, they have some amazing products in their fold.

Product Description:

Soothing cleansing milk smoothes away make-up and impurities with spa-like efficiency. Clarins’ blend of purifying plant extracts—including Gentian, Hawthorn and Sage—helps rebalance oily-prone skin for optimum comfort and radiance. Leaves skin feeling soft, supple and perfectly refreshed.

How To Use:

To increase effectiveness and prevent over-stimulation, Clarins recommends the following technique: Place hands flat, without pressing, over the entire face and then lift briskly away to create a suction effect. This literally draws out and lifts make-up and grime as gently as possible. Repeat this movement five or six times, then rinse skin thoroughly with tepid water. Apply in the morning and evening, using Clarins gentle cleansing method.

My Take on Clarins Cleansing Milk with Gentian:

This subtly and refreshingly fragranced cleansing milk does a superb job of removing dirt and all types of makeup, even eye makeup. It removes all traces of dirt and grime too.  Its specially formulated for combination and oily skin, but I think it would work equally well for dry and normal skin too.  Even if you have no makeup on, the cotton swab after using the cleansing milk shows some residue.  The instructions describe to use fingers briskly to create a suction effect with the cleansing milk, and I did the same.  After that, I used cotton rounds to wipe off all dirt and makeup. Finally, rinsed skin with water.

I have to tell you, this works amazingly, I have had lesser breakouts after I started using this cleansing milk regularly.  I would have really minded if it came without any fragrance.  This one gently removes makeup and impurities and does not feel harsh at all.  The best thing is that there are so many good ingredients – psidium guajava fruit extract, crataegus monogyna flower extract, Iris Florentina Root Extract, Gentiana lutea (Gentian) root extract – along with “methylparaben,” which is the only con in this otherwise superb product.  If you are looking for a gentle yet effective cleansing milk – this is it

Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris For Combination or Oily Skin Review

After using a set of products from Clarins, I have realized that Clarins makes awesome products for sensitive and oily skin.  The best aspect about Clarins skin care products are that they are extremely gentle on the skin and work effectively.  I like Clarins products on par with Clinique skin care.  Today, I am reviewing a toner from Clarins formulated especially for combination and oily skin – Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris For Combination and Oily Skin.

Product Description:

Alcohol-free toner — with purifying Iris and Sage extracts — removes every last trace of cleanser, leaving oily-prone skin pristine-clean and perfectly radiant.  Tones and tightens pores while helping normalize surface oils.  Preps skin for the Clarins treatments to follow.

How To Use:

After applying cleansing milk.  Soak two cotton pads with toning lotion and smooth over the face and neck.

Price:

$22 dollars for 200 ml.

My Take on Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris For Combination or Oily Skin:

I got this toner at a time when I was in need of toners sans alcohol.  The Elizbath Arden Pore Minimizing Toner left my skin a bit greasy and the alcohol content in other high-end toners caused stinging on my skin.  I wanted a toner which would clean and tone my skin, and do nothing else.  This toner with Iris clicked with me completely because of two reasons – it does not contain alcohol and the glycerin content does not leave my face sticky.  So, I was only happy to use this on a routine basis.  This product has a very subtle talc kind of fragrance which does not bother at all, its a pleasant fragrance.  This toner is water based with many good ingredients like aloe barbadensis leaf juice, witch hazel water, psidium guajava fruit extract, iris florentina root extract, crataegus monogina flower extract.

I use the Clarins Cleansing Milk with Gentian first and follow it up with this toner.  This toner removes the residue left behind by the cleansing milk and leaves the skin clean and supple.  It tones up the skin quite well.  There is no greasy feeling left behind.  I usually skip the moisturizer because it does not dry out the skin.

I am very happy with how this toner cleans, tones, and leaves the skin supple; however, it does not work that great on reducing pores. Its a great toner for oily and combination skin types, but don’t expect it to minimize facial pores.

I have also tried the Clarins Toning Lotion with Camomile for Normal and Dry Skin – which is also alcohol free, and it also cleans and tones skin very well without stinging; however, this particular variant has a slightly higher glycerin content and for me it does leave the skin a bit greasy, but I am sure it would be great for normal and dry skin.
Girls, if not anything, you should check out the toners from Clarins.

• Tones facial skin well, leaves it clean and supple.
• No stinging sensation.
• Alcohol free.
• Especially formulated for oily/combination skin with iris root extract.
• Contains a whole lot of ingredients.
• Does not leave the skin greasy.
• Cleans up oil and traces of dirt.
• Subtle and refreshing fragrance.
• Gentle on skin.

Cons of Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris For Combination or Oily Skin:

• Contains glycerin – though it does not leave skin greasy, still some people may not like it at all.

Clarins Hydraquench Intensive Serum Biphase Review

I am so glad that I got to try Clarins because not a single product out of the ones I have used have turned duds for me.  Subtly fragranced, Clarins skin care products work on the skin effectively.  This serum I am reviewing today is a bi-phase serum which is for all skin types.  A little product info first.

Product Description:

Intensive rehydrating and repairing treatment specifically formulated for Asian skin.  Formulated with hyaluronic acid and extracts of katafray and inca peanut, this bi-phase serum acts at all levels to keep skin looking matte and restore soft, youthful looking radiance, 2 patents pending.  Allergy tested, non-comedogenic.

Price:

$41 for 30 ml.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Iso Hexa-Decane, Isononyl Isononanoate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Sodium Pca, Trehalose, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Benzophenone-4, Sodium Chloride, Parfum/ Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tromethamine, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Disodium Edta, Alcohol, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Butyl Methoxydibenzoyl Me Thane, Medicago Sativa (Alfalfa) Ex Tract, Cedrelopsis Grevei Bark Ex Tract, Pyrus Sorbus Bud Extract, Sorbic Acid, Tocopherol, CI 42090/Blue 1, Ci 60730/Ext, Violet 2.

How To Use:

Apply morning/and or evening to thoroughly cleansed face and neck. Gently press down working from the middle of the face outward, before applying Hydraquench moisturiser best suited to your skin type.

My Take on Clarins Hydraquench Intensive Serum Biphase:

This bi-phase layer serum is so lightweight that it seems water like, the serum is blue in color.  This serum seems to have two layers and instructions mention to shake the bottle well before use.  Upon shaking well, the mixture turns a little milky from outside the bottle, but out of the pump comes out as blue liquid.  I use this serum after the cleansing and toning routine.  Only a pump or two is required for the entire face.  The serum gets absorbed into the skin quickly and immediately leaves the skin supple, soft, hydrated, and moisturized.  Foundation and other makeup can be worn over the serum, can be used during day time or before hitting the bed.  I have not had any reaction while using this product, no acne breakouts, no rashes, no patches on the skin.

I have noticed good improvement in skin’s texture after incorporating this serum into my skin care routine.  My face remains hydrated throughout without it being feeling excessively greasy.  Oily skin girls who usually break out with regular serums, should try this because this is non-comedogenic.

This serum contains a whole lot of good and exotic ingredients – Katafray Bark extract, Hyaluronic acid, Alfaalfa extract, Inca peanut, red algae extract, Alpine Willow Herb, Pomegranate, Arctic Cloudberry, White tea extract.

I am so happy to use this serum because it gives that much-needed moisture content to my face without being oily.

For those girls with oily and acne-prone skin, who have a doubt about including serum in their skin care regimen, can check this out.

• The pump does not work that well.
• People with extremely oily skin may not find it that great.

I purchased the Lotus Purestay range foundation.  Although the shade I chose is right, my face looks ashy on applying, not whitish, it looks ashy.  I have oily skin and so I don’t need a moisturiser beneath foundation . Which other foundation can I try ? Are BB creams or tinted moisturisers a better alternative ? I hate the ashy effect Lotus Purestay range foundation gives me. Please help.

L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Fluid Review

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on IMBB after almost one year of silently reading reviews and only then buying products. Today, I am reviewing “L’Occitane en Provence Immortelle Precious Fluid” for first signs of aging.

Why I bought it?

Well, I am almost 28, just had a baby girl 4 months back and lost a lot of weight recently, all this was clearly showing on my skin. The correct word would be “early signs of aging.” With a baby and a job, my beauty regimen had gone for a toss! So, I wanted to invest in something that will give me quick results without too much effort  I have heard so much about L’Occitane as a brand. Recently, on my trip to the mall, I saw the outlet.  It wasn’t there last time, so I literally ran inside and asked the SA if they have anything for anti-aging. She showed me this “Immortelle” range and told me that this is one of their bestsellers.

I have combination skin, so I bought the recommended “Precious Fluid.” If you have normal to dry skin, she recommended the Precious cream, which is same in contents and actions. This Precious Fluid is not be confused with “Precious Serum,” which is also there in the Immortelle range.

Product Description and Claims:

The Immortelle Precious Fluid is a moisturizing lotion offering a triple action benefit for firmer skin and reduced appearance of wrinkles:

- Smoother skin:  Immortelle stimulates collagen production, which helps fill in deep wrinkles and restructure the epidermis for smoother skin.

- Firmer skin:  The support network of the skin is reinforced*.

- Younger and matte looking skin:  Micro-circulation is boosted to stimulate cell renewal. Skin is protected from free radicals* and feels matte and velvety.  Skin looks incredibly younger.

* In vitro / ex vivo on immortelle extracts.

Packaging:

It comes in a sturdy blue translucent glass bottle, roughly the size of my palm. It has a lovely pump dispenser which clicks shut when you twist it, so there is no chance of accidentally pressing the pump as well.  I love the packaging.

Texture and Smell:

The fluid is white in color with a runny consistency. Roughly two pea-size drops are enough to cover face and neck. It has a very pleasant floral smell which stays for almost an hour.

It takes about 30-40 seconds to get absorbed and leaves a slight shine. You need to use a compact/powder on top if you want to go out after putting this on. The face feels just a teeny-weeny bit sticky, but I guess I should blame the incessant Pune rains for that. I think it won’t be there in summers/winters.

My Experience with L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Fluid:

I must say I am very impressed with this fluid. I have been religiously using it for 10 days, twice a day (as mentioned by the SA) and I already notice my skin improving. My skin feels way too soft and supple. It has not broken me out. It does not feel oily.

Also, the SA was insisting that I buy cleanser, toner, and serum in the same range to get faster and better results. But I wasn’t sure whether I should invest so much money at one go. So, she gave me free sample-sachets of these products to “fast-track” the effects

Here are the free samples of:

• Brightening Foaming Cleanser.
• Essential Water Face.
• Precious Serum.

You are supposed to use them in the above written sequence just before the Precious Fluid.

So, I first wash my face and neck with the cleanser, pat dry my face, then dab the water, wait for a few minutes, then put on the serum and then this fluid. The samples are over, but they helped a lot.

I already get a lot of compliments on my skin these days. I hope these changes stay!

Pros of L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Fluid:

• Suits my oily to combination skin.
• Living up to its claim till now. I have visible healthier/supple skin.
• Natural ingredients, I do not feel like I am putting-on chemicals on my face.
• Sturdy packaging.
• Lovely fragrance.
• Product details/research comes in a leaflet in the pack.

Cons of L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Fluid:

• Expensive (but I guess if you are buying L’Occitane, you can’t complain about the price!)
• Leaves just a little bit of shine, need to use compact/powder afterwards.

Will I Repurchase L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Fluid?

I do recommend this if you want something for anti-aging and can afford this.  I will finish this bottle and then decide on repurchasing, I think I will buy the cleanser also.  I feel it’s better to start with anti-aging right now, rather than start with  ”reverse the signs of aging,” a few years later.
